Walking through Angkor Thom, the last and most enduring city of the Khmer Empire, I began to embrace the majesty of this sacred city that was established in the late twelfth century by King Jayavarman VII.  Built to impressive heights, the facade of this city is powerful and slightly intimidating.  The face that is depicted in this photo is about the size a two story house, and is just one of many monuments within the walls of this, “Great City.”
